| Established in 1916, Darra State School provides high-quality education to students from Darra and surrounding suburbs. Our school is small, diverse and harmonious. Staff and students know each other by name – no child is lost in the crowd. Our school is an extended family, and our students have a strong sense of belonging. Principal’s Statement:
| As the newly appointed Principal of Darra State School, I’m excited to build a love of reading in our school. Darra State School is filled with enthusiastic learners who try their best with the limited resources they have. A sponsorship from Books in Homes would allow all our students to engage in purposeful, student led reading and build a stronger love of reading. Our school improvement goal is to improve in English and Engagement. Our students reading and literacy results are lower than other schools in the region due to our high levels of English language learners and children from diverse and lower socio-economic backgrounds. |
| Annual Sponsorship Cost: | $21,709.70 (ex GST) per annum across three terms for the standard three book program. |
| Additional Comments: | Two sponsors could support the school by paying $10,854.85 (ex GST) each, and three Sponsors could support the students by paying $7,236.57 (ex GST) each. The school also qualifies for the two book program. |
