This is a Christmas story of collaboration between charities and other invested organisations.

A few months ago, our partner Good360 facilitated an introduction between Books in Homes and another NSW-based charity—Central Coast Kids in Need. Coincidentally, both charities have something in common—we share a sponsor in Mingara Recreation Club.

Central Coast Kids in Need is a small volunteer organisation that raises money to provide financial assistance to families of seriously ill Central Coast children, who are required to go to Sydney / Newcastle Hospitals for treatment. They do this by easing the financial burden for medications, equipment, travel and accommodation.

A few weeks ago, several Central Coast Kids in Need volunteers, friends and associates got together to wrap, pack and deliver the gifts to registered families in the area. Thanks to the generosity of the community, including Good 360, they were able to deliver gifts to 164 families, which equates to 376 kids plus gifts for 27 single mums, three single dads, seven grandmothers, two aunties and one uncle who are raising their siblings.  Books in Homes donated 100 new books, which were added to the gift hampers. Our books were spread across two (2) age groups—0 to 8 and 9 to 12.
