Books in Homes Attends BHP Partners’ Symposium on First Nations Community Engagement

    Apr 2, 2021 0

Books in Homes CEO Peter Large recently attended the BHP Partners’ Symposium in Brisbane, alongside 13 BHP partner organisations and 26 representatives to work together to improve First Nations community engagement outcomes for Industry partners and communities. The symposium was facilitated by Deputy Vice-President Indigenous Engagement, BHP Chair in Indigenous Engagement, and CQ University Professor Adrian Miller and his team from CQ University who are working to develop a best practice First Nations Community Engagement Framework. BHP is a sponsor of Professor Miller’s work and the Office of Indigenous Engagement at CQU. BHP also funds 28 schools and childcare centres around Australia on the Books in Homes Program through their Social Investment in Community Development Programs. The attendees at the Symposium spent time together, collaborating and sharing ideas for better outcomes and provided Professor Miller and his team with feedback to further develop their work and assist in future undertakings. The expert guest speakers inspired the attendees with their insights and stories of sensitive subject matter. Thank you BHP, Professor Miller and his team, and all those who dedicated their time in our quest to build a better future for all Australians.
