From Goodooga to London!
Oct 8, 2024 0Yaama (Hello),
Goodooga Central School is a rural and remote school located in North Western NSW. We live, work, and learn on Yuwaalaraay Land. Currently there are 19 students in Kindergarten to Year 6 and 16 students in Years 7 to 12.
We just had our exciting Book Giving Assembly, with Role Model Sarah Surgey from London. Sarah is a children’s book author, so it was very inspiring to speak with her about books. Before we met Sarah, we listened to and watched stories involving two book characters called Charlie and Lola, written by Lauren Child. Sarah read us a Charlie and Lola story and then we talked about what life is like in London and how it is different to living in Australia. Sarah spoke to us about the books she has written and it was very interesting to learn about her passion. Our school is looking forward to working with Sarah in the future. Big shout out to Books in Homes for all that they do for us!
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Sponsor Waratah Education Foundation for supporting our primary school with Books in Homes. The students always get so excited to choose their books and receive them. These books are a powerful tool to support language and literacy development of our students in their homes and in our community.
Yaluu (Goodbye).
